the cosmic egg
never gets coiled up
and strangled
into bits
by a snake

to make an earth

much less
sky and ocean

and Cronus
eats gruel

and stars
never grow
or succumb

instead
the monotony
of the small
and insignificant
blankets

nothing pulled
or devoured

no drama

to move us.

  1. Wonderful, thought-provoking poem. I enjoyed the images conjured by your succinct diction. Loved the reference to a “cosmic egg” and “the monotony of small and insignificant blankets.” Drama turns human heads but not the earth’s axis. Keep up the great writing! Cheers, Tyler :)
