The kite

The kite
held its posture
against the 400 mph winds
as long as it could

leading edge
staring straight into a river
of hydrogen and helium
without blinking.

Sure the tail ripped off
and the whole bent spine
shattered

but piece by piece
off it went

little broken kite

into
hundred-year storms
and eddies.
