Vincent-Van-Gogh-Tree-drawings-2

Van Gogh was right:
drawing is “the root of everything.”
A sheet of paper
carried anywhere,
a $1 pen.
You sit and stare
at a world in motion
and stop time
with a few lines.
Sometimes ink
stains your hand.
And for a moment,
you see.

#NaPoWriMo, Day 16. Van Gogh’s tree drawing (pen and ink).

  1. My new copy of Van Gogh’s Letters just arrived. I’m looking forward to reading him again. I saw “Loving Vincent” last year. It was almost a religious experience. I can still remember the firsr Van Gogh I saw, when my grandmother took me to the Honolulu Academy of Arts. I was seven or eight. It’s been a lifelong love affair since then. And he was write. Drawing (like writinh) is still the most affordable pastime I can think…and star-gazing of course!! 🙂

    • Thanks for reminding me that I still need to see “Loving Vincent”! Completely forgot about it. Glad to hear you recommend it…

      • It’s amazing!!
