#NaPoWriMo, Day 1
Morning Moon:
a phantom hiding
in the clouds.
“Behold the great rondure, the cohesion of all, how perfect!”
from Walt Whitman’s “Out of the Rolling Ocean the Crowd”
There’s so much to see,
but my eye keeps catching on
the one bright rainbow.
Believe me, ladies
some day we will walk there, too:
it’s not if but when.
A patch of the Moon
flanked by shadows: trembling sense
we shouldn’t be here.
You’ve only been away a week
and yet you stare
at the terminator
on your crescent home
and a shadow falls
over a place
you know.
The lighthouse keeper
watching the shoals for tall ships
so slow in coming.
